The anobiid beetles (Ano­biidae) are small to medium-sized beetles of cylindrical shape and characteristic pronotum. The species are found in wood (they can be deleterious in processed wood), on bracket fungi, in fir cones or in foodstuffs (e.g. bread). Worldwide approx. 1600 species have been described, thereof 70 from Germany.
